Planting new field

I have a field that's been in clover for nearly 4 years. Weeds and grass has become a problem, plus it is very bumpy to mow and there are some drainage issues.

I want to redo the field and again plant clover, smooth it out and fix the drainage problems. I have an experienced dozer guy who can do the work. I'm thinking of doing it after deer season in late Nov/ early Dec assuming we don't have an early winter.

My question is - would you seed it in the winter or wait until spring? I am thinking if I can get the clover started early by frost seeding it may help with weed control.

Or would you wait until spring?

I would frost seed it in late winter. A lot easier to find time to do it in the winter and the seed is there ready for spring moisture.
