Poaching a Problem ?

While shed hunting again this year I have come across a number of buck carcasses with just the antler caps sawed off. I am confident that most if not all of these bucks were poached. How about the rest of you IW members, is poaching a problem in your area?

There were some highschool kids a couple years back that spent the whole fall poaching anything that had a rack. They shot around 50 bucks in the area, and the hunting hasn't been the same since.

The worst part is, I know all the poachers...talked with the DNR and asked about setting up an inside-job sting, but they said it wasn't practical. Plus whenever I told our local officer, he just said he already knew about it. I was like, WELL THEN, DO SOMETHING.

The DNR in my area is after the local "buyer" not the actual triggermen.

ALSO, in my area...it is mostly the construction guys that do it...once they get laid off for the winter I guess they use it as "time-filler" and supplemental income.

It's definitely BAD where I come from.
