Question on scent control clothing

What is everyone’s opinion on scent control hunting clothing? Do you use it or not, and if so do you believe it works. I have one set and debating on buying a lighter set and just wondering if I’m wasting my money. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I have some...I think it prly works some, but not a cure all. That forget the wind and hunt tag line is B.S. Still need to play the wind.

i honestly think it helps, but like Jake said, not the end all be all, in fact i wont own one because of the price......
i see plenty of deer without one, but you wont catch me dropping that much money on a set of clothes......

I was not a believer at all in this clothing until this season. I wear the base layers and scent blocker jacket, pants and hat, this is my first season with it. last weekend I had a nice p&y buck work his way directly to me from about 400yds out. DIRECTLY down wind of me the entire time. I woke up late that morning and didn't do my usual scent free shower etc. i just through on my clothes and went. the whole time he came in he was lifting his head back and sniffing the air. He knew something was there but was not on high alert. he came within 20yards broad side (down wind) for abot 15 mins. I passed on him and he slowly meandered off. I still think you need to play the wind, i still think you leave scent, but I think that it helps take the level of scent you emit to a less alerting level. I got mine on clearance for a great price, would I pay full price? no

too much money to spend on something that may have already absorbed all the scent it can, by the time you buy it. plus, no way to reactivate it.

i'm sure it helps, before it gets full of scent. i would imaging that the reason it "works" so well, is because once a guy shells out all that cash, they take extra care to keep it as scent free as possible. if the same care would be taken with their regular clothes, they would probably have similar results.

i use a base layer of e-scent, to kill odor causing bacteria at the skin level, and keep the rest of my stuff as scent free as possible. spray liberally with ghost spray, and i'm good to go

Last year I had a booner at 18 yards on his way to my decoy, I was at full draw just watching to see what he would do to my decoy and he smelled me and bolted before I shot.( My stupidity) He was the ninth buck to come in that afternoon and the only one that smelled me. Last night I was parting with some friends of mine and one said ever since he bought his scent blocker outfit he hasn’t been detected. This is why I asked the question. I have never been a believer and now I just don’t know.

too many variables to be 100% one way or the other. some good info in the thread "MN hunters sue scentloc"...try a search on here

i just take excellent care of my clothes, every layer is hit with dead down wind, and stored in a tub with some natural veg. the other night i had a decent "let him grow" buck come in directly down wind of me and walke around my tree a complete time haveing know idea where i was, i have no scent clothes just proper scent care does the trick for me.

Your buddy probably has never had a deer down wind of him while wearing the scent blocker. I wouldn't trust that stuff any farther than I can throw it. Over priced waste of money. Play the wind, the only way to go.

Yeah, like that's possible for you /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I agree with Teeroy, i have a scentlok suit and I pretty sure the only reason I think it works is because I treat it like a baby. Its always in an HS scentsafe travel bag. And I take every step i think possible to be scent free!
If its the suit or just the suit keeping me honest? Who knows?
