We were driving through the eastern Colorado plains last week returning home from Colorado Springs when my wife spotted some muley bucks along a waterway. They dipped into the waterway and were headed towards the road. I pulled over and used the passing cars as cover. With my 3 year old in one arm, a camera in the other, and my 10 and 8 year olds following closely we made it to the bridge just before the bucks started walking out from under it. We let the first ones walk by and when the big one walked out I snapped a photo.
I grunted and he stopped to look at us at 30 yards.
I wispered to my 3 year old , "shoot him" and he drew his air bow and made a sound to simulate a bow firing. (seriously

That was enough and the deer busted. I snapped this photo as the bucks ran away.
My kids thought this whole experience was the greatest and I was almost as excited as I get in a real hunting situation.
The best part of the vacation came a few minutes later when we were glassing a group of antelope. My wife was complaining that her binoculars weren't very good and she wanted to use mine. I told her that mine arent what they used to be but they were better than hers. She replied by saying, "Why don't you just buy yourself some new binoculars and give me your old ones?"
I told her that I've never been more attracted to her than I was at that moment!:way:
