Tonight i went hunting and didnt see a dang thing!

Got back to the truck and wondered about a piece of land i dont have access to hunt! I decided i'd walk back there to the bean field *without my bow* and see if that field was gettin any action! Holllyyyy cow!!!!

I stepped onto the fenceline and CRASH! 2 bucks were goin at it to my right! Look out straight ahead and there are 5 bucks and about 30 does in the field goin NUTS! I wish i had my camera to get a few pictures! Some of the biggest deer i have ever seen! It was a wonderful sight.. just wish i could get one of them under my stand!

Gunna do a bit of callin tomorrow afternoon to see if i can get access to this land becuz.. that i know of.. its not bein hunted!!

You guys/gals seein any movement??
 
I live in What Cheer and things are starting to really heat up. I think by this weekend it is going to explode. Seen a bunch of little bucks chasing does but not real hard yet. Seen a 8pt 130 class chase a doe right before he got a chance to see my decoy.
 
I finally saw true all out rut activity starting last night. Saw a massive 10 point make a full loop all the way around the property scraping the whole way. Wound up near a highway staring down a passing motorist without a care while he made another scrape right by a busy road in a lawn. Tonight I saw the same buck and he would NOT leave a particular doe leading me to believe she's starting to come into heat. Up to this point, the larger bucks I've seen have given up within minutes if not seconds before moving on. Also heard a couple different fights that sounded less like the sparring that's been going on and more like a semi-serious fight. Actually got a visual on 4 different bucks tonight and all were on the move and all business. Leading up to the last 2 nights, it's been WAAAAY slower. I'm calling tonight, at least in my spot, the first night of no BS serious rut activity even though I still think it's somewhat in the transitional period.
 
Yea.. i actually live in Deep River and was hunting in Montezuma! Im seein deer running all over the place!! I make a 45 min drive to school and take the lacey highway to the glendale road and that glendale road is stocked with bucks chasin does! Its sweet!!!
 
My biggest buck I ever killed was on that road. I hit it with my car. It was a 152 in 8 pointer.
 
I used to live on the Glendale road just at the Oskaloosa city limits. I had corn all around me and all the timber across the road that ran along side the high school. It used to blow my mind the number of really good bucks you would see that came out of that area. If only we could start hunting the recreation trails in town! It is recreation right? I drove from Pella to Harvey and from there to Tracy and back around the Bluff Creek area last night on my way home from work at 5:30. I was kind of dissapointed I didn't see more deer. Oh, well I really want to see them from the stand not the car. Can't wait until tomorrow......
 
Yup! You are correct! That is recreation trails! That land next to the high school with the timber next to it is the High Schools FFA property! Some good deer in there! Walked back there a few weeks ago and had 7 does come within 5 feet of me then finally picked me outta the fenceline and busted outta there!!! I love that area!
