Smoke as cover scent

When I'm done hunting in the morning I take off my coveralss and coat and set them by my wood burning fire place to dry out. Is having them smell like smoke bad? Or do the deer not really care?

We had a few grass fires this fall and of course i had to go to them. Wore my camo under my bunkergear and i still smelled like smoke and you could hear the deer busting me from over 200 yards away. My opinion is that smoke and hunting does not go together.
