I've already put this topic on the long beard
confrence and I didn't get very many responces. So I was wondering how do super magmun loads compared to 3 inch loads. Do they have mor velocity or just more shoot? And is it really worth the extra money to buy a gun with tree and a half inch capeability?

i was wondering about 3 and 1/2 inch slugs. How do they work compared to 2 and 3/4?

In my opinion, if you are going to do alot of goose or late mallard hunting the extra charge of is worth it. I used an Ithica Mag 10 for years, but recently bought a Beneli Super Black eagle 12 because it isn't as bulky. It is important to note that bigger shells won't make you a better shot, just will result in more clean kills.

And in 3 1/2 inch, the velocity will be very close to 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells. You can buy fast or slow loads, the biggest benefit is the density of the pattern on longer shots.
