Tax on Switchgrass seed?

Are you guys paying tax on Switchgrass Seed? I just ordered some RC Tecumseh from Albert Lea Seed and had to pay 60 bucks in tax on my $750 order, and it seemed like I didn't have to last time, but I could be wrong. They said it's because it isn't considered an agricultural seed....seems like it would be to me, but what do I know?

Weird, last time I got seed from them I paid no taxes... I did have to tell them it was for a CRP program at the time... I also know they just went some changes here at the first of the year so maybe they are having some issues?

It depends on how your account is set up and what type of customer they consider you as.. farmer/retail/wholesale etc. Have had to straighten this out there before

No tax, I generally purchase from Albert Lea Seed.

Don't pay at local Ag Services either due to farm use.

Odd, I had them double check with "someone who knows" and they confirmed that Switch is not considered farm seed and that I had to pay tax. For 60 bucks, I'm tempted call them back.

This might be technically correct.. if somehow you can register as a wholesale customer and not a retail customer you can get around this.. up to you to vouch for that tho

Honestly, wasnt aware of this company. However, now that I look, they dont carry Tecumseh, which is my preferred variety.
Not trying to speak for anybody else but nearly any seed dealer/company probably can source what you are looking for if you call and ask. May or may not always be cost effective with shipping etc. but it is probably possible.
