I'm sure this has been covered in other posts but I'm hoping to get pointed in the right direction for some info.
This is probably a long term plan or just a wild dream of mine but I've got my eye on 65 acres of land in south central Iowa. Its probably 25 acres timber and 40 CRP. The guy who owns it now doesn't hunt, doesn't farm, just owns the land and thankfully lets me pheasant and deer hunt it. I'm planning to approach him about my interest in buying it. I may never have the money and he may never want to sell it but I'm going to plant the seed with him anyway.
What I'm interested in is what kinds of things do I need to think about in planning for this (besides saving lots of money). Things like land cooperatives, government programs, CRP payments, buying it as a hunt preserve/business. I don't know. Just a wild a** dream of mine and looking for suggestions.
