Too late for alfalfa?

I think I will plant a 3 acre field in alfalfa. Am I too late? Should I wait until August? Should I plant a nurse crop, oats?

If I wait how would it be to plant buckwheat until I put in the alfalfa?

What's the application rate for drilling? For broadcasting?

Not to late. Be better to plant a cover crop with it if you can cut it off later. Unless it's really grazed heavy it should be cut every 28 days.
