Indiana Man Charged With Numerous Violations After Netting Fish at Hatchery
ELKADER - An Indiana man pled guilty Friday morning to a variety of charges after dip-netting more than 70 trout from a race-way at the Big Springs Hatchery near Elkader.
Mark Byron Liedner, 30, of Monticello, Indiana, was charged with no fishing license, no trout fee, unlawful taking of trout from a state hatchery, and for the over limit of trout.
DNR Conservation Officers Burt Walters and Jerry Farmer apprehended Liedner at a residence near the hatchery. He was accessed more than $1,000 in civil penalties for illegally taking the trout, and fined more than $700 for the violations. Liedner is in Iowa turkey hunting.
