Two way radios

I am looking to purchase a set of two way radios to use while in the woods hiking, mushroom hunting, and such. The area is very hilly and my current set of radio's wont even reach a mile in the terrain with all the hills and trees. Have you guys had any good luck with radios in rough terrain? Specific models and brands would help, thanks!

They are all considered line of sight radios so anything between the two will block reception. They may be advertised as 20 mile radios, but that's in outer space.
