anybody know of a good video camera brand and/or model that would work good for getting my hunts on film. i would devote it completely to that purpose and camo it all up and would like it to be digital if possible. just wondering if anybody had any thoughts... thanks!

I have just a Sony mini-DVD that I use for the baby and turkey hunting. It works well. I paid about $500 two years ago, so its probably cheaper now. I just toss a head net over the body leaving the lens open. I doesn't give me the "moisture detected" message and lock up either.
I think those Primos & Drury boys use some Cannon models but they are $2000 ( I think).
Personally, I am jinxed if I take a camera in the deer woods but its great luck for my turkey hunting!!
Good luck!!

Really depends on how much you want to spend. If you're looking on the lower end, search e-bay for a Sony Handycam........should find one from 200-400, and if you're not looking to sell your hunt it's all you need.

no im not looking to sell it. just put some edited hunts together throughout the season to give me something else to do and have fun with it. i think ill just browse best buy tomorrow just to see what they have.

Just about any camera will work. I recommend turning off the digital zoom setting. The picture will just get to shakey on high zoom. So try to find something with a high optical zoom. I have used old models and had very little luck. We just purchased Canon GL2, which is what Drury and a lot of people use and recommend. It is a lot of money, but I am hoping the quality is much nicer! I guess we will see soon!

A GL2 will put down some nice footage and it is the low end camera that the big boys use. If you ae just doing it for yourself I would go with a handy came. Once you get into the big cameras the cost increases for the extras.

There was another post about Camera's I think and which one to use & another about filming hunts for a collaborative IW video, but I'm apparently to webilliterate to locate them.
I was thinking about getting a handi cam as well and one of the post had some suggestion on just which one to get and what features to make sure that model has. Anyone have a link?

Here ya go.

Does anyone know if there is a wireless mic set up that works with the Sony Hanycams? If so, how much does it usually run and where can I find one?

[/ QUOTE ] Really need to know exactly what model you have, because it all depends on the jacks available on the camera. The wireless system is completely separate. I handle the audio at my church and we run a Sony GL2 (mentioned above) with a Shure Wireless mic. The GL2 does have XLR jacks which allows you to use a wide variety of mic's. We run camera mounted, wireless and wired.
Here is a good source for AV equipment. B & H Photo
