does anybody have and experience with video tapeing hunts and if so what kind of camera would be recomended willing to spend $1,000-$3,000

Look into the canon xha1s. you wont be dissapointed.

XH-A1 all the way. Can get a good "used" setup for $2300 and may get some accessories with that. Get a muddy treearm, tripod, bogen head, shotgun mic, varizoom, rain cover, and a Canon video light and you are pretty much set. If you can find a used one for around $2300, you shouldn't have to much of a problem getting all the above for $3000.
