Weather update: Well, after a brief change we are back to the old pattern we have been in for the past 3 yrs. Ridge in the west. Trough in the East. Dry cold NW flow over Iowa. Shame last week all that snow and rain moisture going down the drains, instead of into the soil . I heard a climatologist the other day saying what has been happening the past few years is that the Jet Streams are slowing down. Instead of fluctuating back and forth, once you get one weather pattern overhead, you are stuck with it for a long time. I believe this to be true. Until the ground thaws out,Iowa might just as well be dry. Moisture now, is of little value.

That's why it can be important to help mitigate that and save some water for later. But for me, don't even have much snowpack, so if it melts, won't be excess water running away.
