No, you can't pet him.
I got this picture off my camera. I've been getting alot of coon pics, but this thing looks different. Any thoughts or am I just not seeing a coon?

Here's a coon pic for reference they're not in the same spot, but it may help.

It looks like it has the color of a badger. They also sit lower to the ground like that. Hard to say though just a guess.
 
Is that pic W of Hwy 61, if so could be anything. Coon / possum cross? Crazy s%!^ out that way.
 
The close up picture clearly shows a ringed tail on that ball of fur, I would say it's 100% raccoon.
 
White arrows indicate where I am seeing rings on the tail. Other side you can sorta see the mask below it's ear. Not a big coon, but a coon none the less.

It's about 4-5 miles from your hometown.

I can kind of see what Muddy's pointing out. I think I need a cam with higher picture quality.
