Whiteriver National Forrest, Colarado??????

anybody got info on this national forrest! going smokepoling and for elk here in september. can't seem to find topo's and aerials on the net,i checked terraserver.com and nothing. also if any of ya'll have been hunting here, which zones are the best for the rut???

anyone got any info, thanks in advance

I have hunted there 4 times. The White River National Forest is a huge area. Aren't all the blackpowder tags a draw? Applications haven't been sent out yet? You will have great time but let me warn you. Get as far from any road as you can. Lots of campers and tents along the old jeep trails and service roads. I think the b.p. season is usually in the middle of Sept. so you should be right in the rut. I think the Colorado Division of Wildlife has CD's available that have lots of maps, harvest statistics, etc. One other thing, make sure you are in the best shape of your life. Drinks lots of water while you are there too. Good luck.
