Agreed with pupster.
While it was cold last week the deer were coming out consistently. But with gun season just getting over, the big bucks were hanging back till dark. In years past with cold and snow you could maybe get that shot at a big buck after Jan. 1, but usually closer to the 10th. With this warm weather, your chances diminish. Big bucks are more nocturnal. Not saying it can't happen but percentages are down.
But...hold on. About the time you decide to watch the field from the truck instead of setting up. (Because you have only been seeing small bucks, does and fawns.) That's when Mr. Big shows up following an "in heat" fawn out to the cornfield. It's happened to me.
Some of this years fawns will be coming in heat in the next week or so. So they saying goes, you have to be out there to shoot one. Keep after it!
