Wild Turkey Tail Fan Mount

Remove as much fat, meat, etc, as possible. Make sure you remove the two oil glands, they each are about the size of a pea. Rub some Borax (20 mule Team) on the feather quills and remove some more. "Do not use salt" Repeat this step about three times.
Once all of the meat and fat are removed, spread out on a flat surface and use some masking tape, spread the feathers so they look good. Sprinkle a little more Borax on the quills. Now, using a hot glue gun, glue the top side and let dry. Once dry, turn over, sprinkle more Borax, and glue again. I use about two complete glue sticks for each tail. This works real well for tail mounts. You may also use Bondo car putty for a more durable piece, but I only use that for full mounts.
If your tail has been through a lot, water, rain, beat up in general. You may submerge in water and Dawn dish soap, 1 hour, and rinse really well. Using a blow dryer on low heat, you can bring the tail back to its natural shape.
