Will it live?

Any thoughts? Got pictures of a young buck with good potential with an arrow in his back. Hard to say without seeing the other side whether it got guts or not. Definitely looks pretty hunched up in the one pic.

I don't think that got guts. My guess is it will live. Might throw a funky rack next year.

There is always the potential for infection, etc. But otherwise, that looks like the type of deer that someone shoots in the future and there is an old broadhead lodged in the skeleton. His vitals are safe there, so I think he has a good chance of survival.

I agree.. doesn’t look like the arrow has enough angle to get guts.. also find it hard to believe a buck that is severely wounded would be out on a stroll out in the open at that time

Hope he gets that arrow pulled out!!! That and cold weather will help. Dang that stinks!!!

Barring an infection, my guess is he will be fine.

Years back, I had trail cam pictures all summer of a buck with a festering hole in his back leg. Could see the pus oozing out of the leg. I shot him first shotgun season. Doubt he'd have made the winter. Called the CO and he gave me the option of tagging and keeping the rack or keep hunting and they would pick it up. I opted for the later since it wouldn't have been fit to eat IMO.

Finally confirmed he’s still alive.. for now. First pictures we’ve had since seeing it wounded. Had been seeing him in person and on camera regularly before then.
