Wisconsin Senate to consider crossbow hunting bill
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin Senate committee is scheduled to consider a bill that would expand crossbow use by deer hunters.
The measure up for a hearing Wednesday easily passed the Assembly on a unanimous vote in June. The full Senate could pass it next month. It would need to be signed by Gov. Scott Walker before becoming law.
The bipartisan measure would create a crossbow license and a crossbow season to run concurrent with the archery deer season. It would allow hunters of all legal ages and of all physical abilities to use crossbows to hunt deer in the state.
The measure is supported by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, Wisconsin Crossbow Federation, National Rifle Association and Hunters Rights Coalition.
