There are a couple of "Dud Zones" that are many many thousands of acres. Hunters are not allowed in these areas. There is also a lot of swamps and clear cuts deer can hide in. The hunts are a week later than normal, and the second hunt will be in a couple weeks... getting close to primetime in...

We hunt in that area opening weekend every year. If your going to hunt out of a ground blind, wear boxers, cause you'll be stripping down to your undershorts real quick- You'll be sitting in a sauna.

If you don't mind "Winging It" an easy trip we've done in the past is head to western SD and just stop by the local taverns and ask around. Ranchers don't like the little buggers and welcome the hunters. Its a cheap, easy and fun hunt. I'd also suggest bringing your bow with Judo points...
