Haha those zebs deer sticks get me every time.

This time is was on me- I was just lazy. I usually spray scent free spray every time I go out and once in the tree I spray buck bomb on all the branches around me. I didn't do either this time out of just pure laziness and running behind. Won't let that happen again.
 
This is a poor quality pic because its on my cell through the BINOS- and the same pic I put in the "fun encounter" but this is the buck that busted me last night

And only because I am excited ALREADY for shed season with the number of Bucks I am seeing- I had to post a picture of my favorite shed hunting partner who is also all keyed up and ready to find some antlers :)

Have to go see a few customers mid day in southern Iowa today so I'm off down to where my #1 is. Sit this AM as well as evening
 
This morning was TERRIBLE- not one deer- wind howling straight into my face- got poured in the entire time. Can definitely say for the first time this year I was severely underdressed and didn't enjoy myself at all. Headed out to get some work done and see customers and I'll keep tabs on the radar- IF I hunt this evening it will be over some standing corn near winterset
 
Wasn't hunting tonight but left work early to hang a few more cameras at one of the properties I hunt. I got about 4-500 yards from a spot I have never really thought to hunt but the land owner said to put a camera there and hunt it because he has been seeing a nice one for some time. So like I was saying- 4-500 yards away - and I see a buck chasing a few Doe. All I can say is WOW. I've never shook before without hunting - this deer is unreal. And get this- he is an 8 pointer! Idk what the IOWA record is for an 8- but I would bet anything I own this guy will be close. I'm still just in shock Needless to say no camera was put up down there but my number 1 has certainly changed.
 
Gooooo get him! On a side note, i think the record belongs to Elija Hugen? Something like 185 and change. I'm sure someone on here has the correct details.
 
Weather pending I will get the decoy out and go after him specifically tonight and tomorrow AM- went to a different place this AM and saw 1 deer all morning - 140ish 10 pointer- left at 9:15 to get to the office. Sunrise was pretty nice this AM though-

Headed out now. Dang near white out- hopefully he comes back in the same corn section since this storm is bearing down. Going to be an interesting sit- will be on the ground
 
Big boy didn't make an appearance. But the snow sure did! There was multiple scrapes and a highway along the creek/small river there so I have a couple cameras up there now
 
Holy deer! Had a group of 5 doe and a fork go running by. They were out eating in the field and another large group of all doe came out. By 5:00 j counted 27 deer. Only the one small buck- then out runs a definite shooter and about 5 minutes later another big one comes from other side of the field. They went at it- was cool to watch through the binos. All season the deer have crossed a fence right at a grassy drain ditch in the corn field and they all did the same tonight. I will certainly be getting a box blind there before muzzy season. I had a camera at the end of the orchard because that's where the bino buck pic was and the flash was going off non stop as well. Hopefully those two bucks walk by as well. Great nice considering not one of the deer except the first group of doe came into range

I saw twelve tonight and not a single one came into bow range. Still the best sit of the year
 
Was watching a guy hunt some land right here in town. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw his decoy out and a group of 15+ deer came out right where his truck was parked lmao. I can't help but wonder why he is hunting the point that he is and not the top section of his field where I have seen them come from every night I watch him.
 
Haha yeah- as I am in the stand tonight my fiancé sends me pics of a buck in our back yard and she is like- is this what you're after? Frustrating! The orchard is tuff to put something new out this time of year. Needs to be done at night or mid day because of a deer is in the orchard -it can see the rest of the property and what I am doing. Tuff place to get into without bumping deer
 
Saw a lot of deer again today- had a nice 10 I would have shot trot by- but never had a shot. Walked one property with 2 buddies after the AM sit and saw a ton of birds. Ended up shooting 5 roosters

this first pic is of the first wave of Does that came out Friday night- all the deer except the two mature bucks took this same path and jumped the fence in the same spot to go to the orchard- they have done this all year

this is the pic of the next evening sitting around the ground near by decoy- had a few cool encounters but not the big one- as you can tell this buck has been BEAT UP this year- but no matter how goofy he looks- they just keep coming into him

I also had a few bucks come in and bed in site of me- one was pretty close- the other was obviously taken through binos- maybe 75-100 yards away.

This last picture is after our walk sunday mid day- I have been hearing birds non stop in the tree this season- so I had a few friends meet me and we walked the north side of this property. The birds were plentiful- should have limited out but we were happy with 5
