Federal Land For Sale

AMEN! There are farmers in my area that can't even keep up with what people are paying for land for investments. Some land around here just sold for over $2000 an acre! A young farmer that I know said if is to make ANY profit off the land, about $1300 an acre is all he could spend. That is why our public land is so precious. I don't see states buying up any chunks of land any time soon at that rate.

As far as your comment accusing our president of “lying” to start a war, you comments are reprehensible, irresponsible, baseless and frankly Un-American. Regardless of what you think of the President, to accuse him of lying when some of our soldiers are giving the ultimate sacrifice so you and I have the freedoms that we do is disgusting and truly demeans what these fine soldiers do each and every day. I truly find it hard to believe that a liberal thinking mind would partake in the great sport of Deer and Turkey Hunting.

Ahhh, politics...the discourse that divides. It's hateful comments like these that make me thankful I'm not a member of either party. You are truly a sorry individual to make such sweeping statements. If I thought for a moment that you might listen to reason, and be willing to change your mind if given enough information to counter the lies the whitehouse has been spreading for the last 3 years, I might actually bother. But it's clear to me that that is not the case here. I find it appalling that you think every hunter MUST be a hardline, right-wing, neo-conservative Repubilcan, whose every thought must be to ratify every statement issued by our government. I think you are right, maybe I should turn myself in to the proper authorities for harboring such treasonous thoughts...how dare I question our leadership - what was I thinking? I should know better than to try and think for myself. Maybe our fore-fathers should have done the same when they tempted the fates and questioned their leaders in England, all in the name of freedom. I will stop here, for fear I might say something I will later regret.

Just remember, history books are authored by the victors - not necessarily the winds of truth

not really wanting to jump into this debate myself, but... [ QUOTE ]
How about the 2,308 troops that have died in Iraq to date? Pretty sure they aren't doing so swell

[/ QUOTE ]

there are a chit-load of iraqis that aren't getting murdered, and raped by saddam husein, that are a HELL of alot better off

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with you completely, Teeroy. There can be no doubt that Iraqis are better off (as long as they can quell a possible civil war). But my question is this: why is it our job to police the world??? I wish we would concentrate on our own borders and security issues, rather than sending our troops overseas to make other governments/peoples play nice

Oh, and I think selling off Federal Land is a complete joke! How about rolling back the deficit bombs (i.e. tax-cuts - see, I can make up some propaganda too

) to responsibly fund our military engagements the entire world over.

Wow, it's not hard to tell that we are in between hunting seasons. Keep it civil, gang. I have my strong opinions too, but face it, this forum isn't going to change someone's mind, and it really isn't the place for extreme statements. Along with the freedom of speech that we enjoy - comes a responsibility to use it wisely. Again, please keep it civil, or please keep it to yourself. Thanks

I won't be getting into the political discussion.

But, I am against the selling of Federal land.

I wish the State of Iowa would have bought up much more public recreational ground before the land values increased so much.

[/ QUOTE ] I have to agree with you Ghost, political debates only build walls between friends in the end so I stay out of them. It's something I have no control over even with my voting in the elections.
