Rain

Anyone gonna hunt tonight in the rain? Think it's worth it? I'm close to IA city want to hunt only have a few days to knock one down with the muzzy but this weather sucks!

Looking for some success stories or motivation I guess!

It can be done in the rain...I'm just afraid of losing a blood trail. If ur limited on time, I'd give it a try

I think it depends on how hard it's raining. I love hunting in a light rain, but downpours have always sucked for me.

Agreed, but right after a downpour can be really good. With an all day rain like this, if it clears off with an hour or so of daylight left, etc, then I would get out there!

Yep! If it's just a sprinkle or mist, I'd be there. If a downpour, I'd get out if it's supposed to let up before dark. Guess days like this are another reason for a covered blind.

Just keep your powder/pellets dry!

Going for it,looks like ther is a chance it might let up tonight going to take the ground blind and then see what happens

That is awesome- wasn't sure if you are going or not- decide "why not" and shoot your biggest buck. Congrats!!

I decided against going out this afternoon. Rain was just too intense. Going to try again in the morning

Glad I got out just shot my biggest buck ever will post story and pics when I can

Good going, look at this way...you just scored during the dreaded October Lull AND you beat the rain too!! :D It just goes to show that you never know and you can't get them on the couch.

I sat through the rainstorm in a blind we threw up today, as it got closer to dark i snuck out to the edge of the field (about 40 yards from the stand I would have been in if it wasn't storming) saw a little buck walking down the edge of the field to my left. He went back into the timber so I took a couple more steps and looked right and saw a shooter right away.

My buck was about 125 yards away and angling towards me. He had another buck with him right behind him, but it was pretty obvious which one to shoot. He stopped quartering to at about 100 yards at I hammered him with the muzzleloader and he ran to the treeline. He went down just inside the treeline, destroyed one lung and most of his liver.

We also got to drag him close to a mile thanks to the fields being almost flooded. Luckily 4 good buddies showed up and a tarp and ingenuity expedited things. It's a little after 1 am now and im exhausted but what a great night!

I'm not sure how to post pics but I can text them to someone to put them In here.
