Rut Action/Movement Reports

I hunted both saturday and Sunday evenings and saw a lot of deer both sits. Both times got within 50 yards of a target buck but didn't quite get close enough. Passed a buck yesterday at 8 yards that I'm still not sure if I did the right thing. Bucks here are definitely on the move. Hopefully i can seal the deal tonight.

Been tough sledding at home. Mirroring everything Jay has talked about on his videos.

Like Skip, I got knocked in the dirt the last 2 weeks of October so I missed all that time, figured it was Rona and turned into bronchitis but a Z-Pak course and some albuterol and I am good as new. Started hunting quite a bit last week and it was rough, just the local does and scrubs bumping around. Saturday night saw the main buck show back up and the neighbor has a 6 year old on cam but both are nocturnal again.

Had a young buck and a doe paired up yesterday morning but it was calm the rest of the day. Cams are showing an uptick in buck movement the last 2 nights after a week of not much movement so hoping the next couple days will be solid. Working today but off most of the rest of the week. Good luck all!

PS...a friend who waterfowl hunts said the migration has been a bit off schedule as well...

Sat on food this morning and again this afternoon. Very slow as of 3.45. This is normally an active spot especially with this cold. Guessing the wind has them in deeper timber.
Ended up seeing 7 does and fawns and one small buck. Sunday evening. No rut action at all.

I took Monday morning off and relaxed. Back in the stand at 1.30. Already seed 4 in the first 30 minutes. 2 buck and 2 does. One buck cruising and one chasing. Hopefully its a productive night!

Things looked like it’s busting open on the drive home from work. Saw a mature buck cross the road but wasn’t much legal shooting time left. Saw some small buck/doe pairs out in harvested fields.

I was hunting in Missouri. Saturday morning I saw 2 nice bucks & 4 smaller bucks . Saturday evening I had 6 bucks go by me .. nothing really nice . Sunday evening just one buck .

Since I shot a buck on Halloween I was on doe patrol only. It was fun to see the action, & hang out with my friends.IMG_9667.jpeg

Well it was productive. I had constant action. Must have had a hot doe go by...it was like watching a pinball machine full of deer for 3 hours. At least 10 bucks and 5 does going all directions. It was river bottom where I can see 150 or more yards in 3 directions so most were far out. A couple small ones passed in range. Nothing was mature until 4pm when and old 6 pt I've been. Seeing for years was calmly following a doe, with his nose right in the air passed at 100 yards. I didn't bother calling cause I knew he wouldn't leave her. 45 minutes later two does and a fawn come right to me and the 6 point was in tow.

He should score negative points for such an ugly rack but he's 6 or more and getting smaller.

Taking the rest of the week off and might not go back to work until after Thanksgiving.

It was pretty good in the mornings and dead in the evenings. Had a 160 plus in a ravine with a doe on Saturday and they just didn't get close enough. Seems dead again now. hope to see things pick up by the weekend as they try to find one more.

Starting to get a few random bucks on trail cammera, that weren't their before, mid day movement. The secondary rut Is inbound. Normally doesnt amount to much, but there will be a few. I hope these wandering bucks decide to stick around.

Things were crazy November 2nd and 3rd, lots of mid-day activity, as well as the 11th and 12th. As of November15th it's like they all vanished. Quite a few does are back with their yearlings.
