Hey guys. I am looking for suggestions on what you would plant if you had limited land. I live on 10 acres and only have about 1 acre available to plant this year. My land is located in a somewhat agricultural area. Crops are rotated between corn and soys for the most part. I've tried soys/corn in the past and it's been a disaster (rookie mistake with weed control for the most part though). I have planted brassicas in the past and they do well.
I am mostly looking for a kill plot with cover in mind as well. The plot would butt up against 1.5 acres of mature hardwoods with a power line bordering it that the deer bed in. Should I do something like half corn for cover and half winter wheat in the fall? The deer devistate the brassicas in late January, but am looking for something to draw them in late October early November. Thanks guys! Oh yeah, soil is heavy clay.
