I thought about the same thing but all that would do is give you the pH and no reccomendation on NKP levels or what ever else a "send it in" kit can tell you.
Just as a control I might try it and compare my home test pH to the "send it in" result. Now all I gotta do is find my pH paper. It has been a few years since I've seen it.
Antler King makes a neat little home test kit that shows Ph levels and recommendations - 4 tests for just over $10. Instantaneous results in the field = pretty handy little item.
