A blanket increase of NR tags is way worse IMO opinion than giving NRLO tags. I owned land in IL when they raised the NR landowner tags and this fueled the outfitting business which ruined the hunting in IL. Outfitters popped up everywhere and people from all over the country started coming to...
I spent thanksgiving with a pathologist and we talked a lot about CWD. She basically said that there was no way for deer to develop an immunity to CWD because of the prions. She also said that she would never eat deer meat because she felt it was possible for the prions to be passed on to...
It's just a matter of time before CWD is everywhere IMO. I'm not sure anyone really knows yet what the long term impact on whitetail hunting will be once it is everywhere. It's something we're prob going to have to live with unless deer can develop an immunity to it. But from what i've heard...
Primos Buck Roar hands down. I've probably killed 15 mature bucks with it over the years. I snort wheeze with my mouth though. Don't use the snort wheeze on the call.
Deer laying everywhere. LOL! These pictures were from last year during the rut. I killed the first doe that walked by. Dropped her at 10 yards for bait right upwind of my tree. She wasn't in heat and was just walking along by herself. Had some small bucks trying to mount her on the ground...
First priority for me is any doe that trails me to my stand, looks for me in the tree, or blows at me. They get an arrow 100% of the time.
Second priority is an estrous doe during the rut. I want her 20-30 yards upwind of my stand. I'll tag her and drag her to that spot if needed. Bucks will...
I used to plant my cereal grains around Sept 1. I had this happen one year and the deer just didn't use the plots. For that reason I started waiting until mid september to plant my cereal grains. That way they are young and fresh come early october.
Could this decision set a precedent for changing the ruling on bucks from the past. The one that comes to mind for me is Sam Collora's buck. I think the net score on that buck was seriously hurt by the common base rule.
I had bad luck when getting this mixture planted too early. If properly fertilized you can get too much growth and the oats and rye lose their palatability. Had this happen a couple of times and the deer would hardly touch the plots. I found it was better to wait and plant in mid September...
I think he's 5. Major roman nose in the first pic and his neck and shoulders don't look like a 4 yr old in other pics. And even if he was 4, I don't think he's got great potential to get much bigger. I'd lay him on the ground and let an up and comer take his spot.
I had a guy from Indiana email me that he had good success killing with with and aerial application of glyphosate in November. There is a period of time when the bush honeysuckle will be green and almost everything else in the woods will be dormant. This would be the time to do it. Looking...
