I bought a Hawk Helium XL and sticks this year and plan on doing some hang and hunts on public for the first time. I am trying to find out the best attachment to my tree stand to hold my bow while I am hunting. I bought one from Farm and Fleet and it didnt fit the stand. I dont want to use...
I am thinking about possibly doing a few hang and hunts this year with a hang on stand and sticks. Any recommendations on a light weight stand and sticks setup that wont break the bank. Cabela's has the Muddy Vantage stands on sale for $160 right now but I didn't know if there was any other...
We just got 12 inches of snow in Iowa where I hunt. The property I hunt the deer tend to move off once snow comes. Will that movement occur right away? Or will it take them time to realize all the food is buried?
I have some whole muscle venison thawing out and was wondering what everyones favorite marinade is. I just got a slicer for christmas this year so this will be my first attempt and whole muscle jerky. Thanks in advance!
I got the Nikon Slughunter this year on my 870 and love it. When shopping around I liked it better then the Leupold, seemed alot more clear. It is a 3-9 power and it seems like that will be perfect
I am not the biggest fan of quartering out a deer and throwing it over my shoulder, it just sounds kind of messy. We do use a 2 wheel cart when we get it to the top of the ravine. If it is snowing we use a sled which is even better. The ravine we have to get the deer up is one of the nastiest...
I hunt in an area that has very large ravines with no way of getting an ATV or anything down there to get a deer out with. Does any one have any good systems for getting deer out ex. pulleys, cranks? I have been thinking about doing some sort of pulley system but didn't know if anyone had any...
So I ended up buying a Reminton 870 Express Slug with Cantilever barrel. Now comes the decision on what scope to put on it. I was looking at the Nikon Slug Hunter at Scheels. Last years model has a 2-7 zoom and a 3.8 in eye relief and 32 mm objective. This years model is 3-9 zoom and a 5 in...
I guess the reason I was looking into the Nikon was that it was specifically for slug guns, I had never thought about the circle. I would not being taking 200 yard shots for sure, I would say my max will be 100
I use ladder hooks from Menards, they go in easier and are cheaper then tree climbers. I use the same to hold my bow too, they are rubber coated so they dont make any noise and makes the bow easy to get off and on
After reading this and doing a little more research online I am thinking of going with the 870 Slug with the cantilever barrel. I was also looking at the Nikon Slug Hunter scope with the BDC. I have never bought a scope and mounted it so I am looking for inputs on mounts to use with this...
