    Bow buck from Friday!

I shot a nice 10 point Friday afternoon about 3:45. I left the office about 2:30 it was light snow and seemed like a good day to be out and it turned out great. This buck was just crusing through the timber a caught a glimpse at about 15yds picked up my bow grunted to stop him hit my release...

    Your best roast recipe.

I like a recipie that I found on a hunting show. I don't have it here at the office but it is made like shredded BBQ deer it is my favorite roast eating. I will get it when I go home today. You make your own BBQ sauce with ketchup, salsa, various pepper, onions, garlic, musturd and other...

    My first bird!

I am really curious youngmoose. Was the gun a Benelli SuperBlack Eagle. During the second season I called in two different toms only to have the gun go click two times in a row. I called in a third tom that morning but couldn't get a third chance to see if the gun would go off. I was shooting...

    This mornings bird

I shot a nice bird this morning started working on him at 5:45 and finished the deal at 8:15 after watching him off and on nearly the whole time. He weighed 25lbs had a 9 3/4" beard and 1.5" spurs. Not my biggest bird but for sure the longest working bird that I have shot. I forgot how to...

How do you cook these things?

I like to grill them. The best way that I have found is to take season them slightly, Cut them into stips about 3" thick and the length on the breast, then I wrap bacon around them and put your favorite BBQ sauce on them cook them on Med-High for about 25 min and you will have some really good...

are you seeing more or less deer

I would agree that there are a lot less deer than there have been in years past. I would also question if it is in part to a mild year so far. Usually they are starting to heard up by now and they are still very scattered from what I am seeing. Last year when we had snow I would have them...

    Saturday Deer season

Are many of you going out Saturday for the opening of shotgun season. I am also curious how we all hunt during the season. I hunt very similar too the way I bow hunt spend a lot of time in the stand and wait for the party hunters to push areas around me. I usually hunt with my dad and brother...

Here is the story. The buck was chasing a doe and was running I whistled to stop him and it worked he stopped at about 10 yards. When I shot it took out his heart and lungs he went less than 50 yards where I watched him expire. I belive that if he had not broken his G-2 on the left side he...

    How bigs a shooter?

I believe like a lot of the other guys that it is about your own personal goals. For me when I was younger it was about getting a deer and a buck but it has become much more than that now. With my bow it is easier generally to get a good look at the deer and get a good score before you decide...

    Alright, this is getting pathetic!

I don't know the area but I would try the edges close to food. As mild as it has been the deer don't have to be in the timber they can be anywhere. I do agree with the persitence factor too I have hunted many times in a row not seen a deer only to stick it out and be rewarded. My only other...

Whats a cure for cold feet?

I agree with many of the replies as to using polypropolyne socks. As well I wear Lacrose Ice man boots they also make an Ice King boot that is very warm they are very heavy to walk in but they will keep your feet warm!!

What now? Is the rut over?

Just my opinion I believe that you are right that the rut more than likely is in the final stages. What I generally do is start hunting the edges of timber close to food sources. I find that they start going back to food sources after the rut. If your stands are not producing you may have...

    Taxidermy recommendation???

Hey as for a good taxidermist I take all of my stuff to Greg Cuvelier in Aplington, IA he has one many awards and am never dissapointed with the work that he does. You do pay for good work and he charges $325 for a deer and the wait will be about 10 monthes. My recomendation is not to go cheap...
