    KS bird

I've had a frustrating season up to this point. I have been trying to get it done with the bow, but have had several toms hang up just outside of bowrange, or strut right outside the back of the blind. I have also missed 2 birds with the bow. I have been covered up with turkeys since opening day...

    My new longbow

I meant to post this a long time ago, but I just haven't made the time to do it. Last Feb. I won a new bow in a raffle at the Kansas Bowhunters assoc. annual banquet. Mike Dunnaway, of Wild Horse Creek Bows, donates a bow every year. It costs 20 dollars per ticket and they only sell 52 tickets...

    KS 2011 buck

This buck came into the horns at first light this morning and wanted a piece of my decoy. I had him at 6 yards and put one through the top of his heart. This isn't anywhere near the biggest buck on the farm, but I am pleased to not be eating tag soup this year for a change. Still have a few more...

    corn question

Do deer eat freshly sprouted corn greens? My main property I hunt here in eastern KS had the corn harvested around labor day. The deer were hammering the field for about 2 weeks cleaning up the scraps, then the farmer disced under the corn stubble. There is very little corn laying around...

    Plot question

I planted an acre plot sunday. Weather man said 60% chance of a good soaker on monday. Well, the storm missed us and now there is no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days. Whats gonna happen to my seed in the ground? Will it be ok with 10-14 days of no moisture or should I be ready to put...

    MO River backwaters bowfishing

Down here around KC, the tributaries of the MO river have been beyond incredible for bowfishing. The grass carp are on a feeding frenzy and the asian carp seem to be everywhere. We've been hitting it pretty hard on the weekends for the last month. Here are a few of the highlights... My...

    Tagged out in Kansas

Well, after knocking one down on the KS opener, I have spent the last several sits running the camera for a couple of friends. We had some good hunts, with birds in camera range, but not quite close enough for an arrow. Sunday noon my partner decided to go home and spend the rest of the day with...

    KS opening day success!

I finally had a text book hunt that ended the way it was supposed to. Last weekend I got the mower in the woods into an area that the turks like to congregate anyways and opened it up a little bit. I got in there early this morning and set up and at first light had 2 toms start sounding off...

    Interesting pics

Saw a lot of strange tracks in the snow on one of my properties this weekend. The card pull revealed the culprits... I guess I got a neighbor nearby with a broken fence. Not sure where they came from. Gonna have to look into getting a bison season next year here in KS!

    More bone pile pics

I put a camera out over a couple carcasses back in December, got a lot of pics. Mostly crows, but a few cool snap shots. I wish I would have had one of my better cameras on it, but the old Moultrie d40 was the only one laying around. Had hundreds of pics of crows... Also had quite a few...

Put the smack down on a few bigguns!

Here in KS, catfish are legal to bowfish. I have landed a few nice ones in the last few weeks. Shot this one 3 weeks ago. HE buried my 50 lb scales. Got this one a couple days ago. He weighed in at 38 lbs.

    Still fishing

I know I am probably the only person on the site still fishing, but what can I say, I have a sickness. October is a damn good time to be bowfishing, and for me it is still WAY too warm to think about deer hunting. Anyway, I thought I would share a couple of my october trophies!! 40 pounds 40...
