I've been using my old smart phone for the last few years, works great! Just pop the cards in and out. Ask around, a lot of people just have older phones just lying around collecting dust.

I also have 2 cards for each camera, but I use the microSD cards with an adapter so I can pop them into my phone when I want to check images in the field. works great, and there's one less thing to take with you.
