    Painful souvenir

    Painful souvenir

I would've kept tracking him no matter how long it took, but I just plain couldn't find anymore blood. The 2 biggest factors I believe were #1 when the deer was shot there was a heavy frost on the ground, as it warmed up the frost melted and washed away the blood on top the grass. #2 It got...

    Painful souvenir

Shot a nice 8 pointer over east today, came right into the decoy but I had to wait till he was leaving to get an undetected shot. He turned and walked toward the timber than stopped and turned his head back, everything was pretty much textbook. A clean open shot at 35 yds quartered away, I put...

    I got lucky today

Lucky I didnt break my neck. I cant believe how icy my stand was ladder and platform. Beings I didnt see anything that even resembled a deer other than my decoy Id say going out today wasnt the wisest decision I ever made.

    11-8-08

I decided against sitting in the stand in the morning with the wind blowing so hard, so i went duck hunting instead. By noon Id had my fill of that and by 3:30 I couldnt contain my buck fever any longer. I went and sat the river bottom stand it was still very cold, windy and it was spitting snow...

    worth it?

Went out this afternoon, in the rain and wind sat in my stand from about 3:30 till dark. The access roads were too muddy to get even remotely close to my stand so I had to come in from the south and walk about 1/2 mile through a muddy picked cornfield (which by the way is a far cry better than a...

Ive got a couple more tricks up my sleeve too. Lovestruck bucks can be real suckers for a decoy.
