    NRC betrays Iowa Sportsman Again!

DNR checking for ammo Hey iowa dove hunters. I just happen to work for one of the BIG 3 ammo manufacturers. The Iowa DNR just called my office to see if we were going to have any steel shot available to send to the stores up there. I wouldn't expect to see too much product available on the...

When is your "must be in the stand" time?

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I guess I could have crafted my statement about the dislike some have for "out of staters". I didn't not mean it as a blanket to cover everyone. I've seen some negative posts against people coming to Iowa to hunt, so it was more of a poke than anything...

When is your "must be in the stand" time?

Hey guys, If you only had a few days, I just wanted to hear when you guys think is the "must" time for bowhunting in Iowa. I know you guys do not like the "out of staters", there are many here in Arkansas that have the same opionion of out of state duck hunters. I don't get the hate, we...

    Helping our NR friends

As another non resident who will be coming up there in 2011 I will have 3 points and plan on hunting zone 7, I too hope to have a pleasant experience. Please don't forget that we out-of-staters often are planning this "hunting vacation" for several years and truley do get pumped up about it...

    Ammunition Shortage

Hey guys, I work for Remington at the Ammunition Plant down here in Arkansas. We are cranking out as much as we are able, while running 24/7. For pistol/revolver ammo, there doesn't appear to be any let up in the near future. :( Rifle (aside from .223) has eased up some.

    NR Tag Soup??

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but I'll throw it out there. I don't have any pref points built up and I applied for a tag this year. Due to the price incr. will chances be greater to get drawn this year, or will it probably still take a few years? Kris

    Nuther Thermacell Question

Down here in Arkansas, we can't get along without those things. Personally I leave my T-cell out the whole time I am hunting. I don't change pads until it starts fadding to white. That maybe 4-6 hours continuous or several weekends, just depends. I did notice this year on the opening day of...

    412 lb NE Buck?

For what its worth, I think it is true. Down here in arkansas, we got the pics also, then we found out one of the guys was a forum member. A guy on the ardeerhunting forum and his friend are the one in the pictures. One of the two posting, killed the deer. Take it for what its worth, I guess...

Well they aren't Iowa deer, but...

No i wasn't being fecisious. I was just comparing them to some of the pictures that I see some of you guys post. I think the biggest on there might be a 150" deer or so, which is a good deer around here. Sure our state occassionally has 160's , 170's killed, but not to the extent that you guys...

I know I'm down here in little ole Arkansas, but we do have a few deer around here that are worth a look. Ya'll probably let these walk up there in corn country.

    Huge Buck........

The story I read, was the deer was in Texas, wounded somehow, vehicle maybe, dont really remember. The deer was being "rehabilitated" at a vet school at Texas Tech or A&M. I could be off on schools or whatever. There were additional pics showing different angles somewhere out there in the...

    Selling Antlers!!

It would be really difficult to enforce. Kinda like selling college football tickets around here for a big game. Someone will give you the game tickets if you will by their hat or whatever for $500

    Wood Carved Buck

hand carved out of tupelo gum and basswood. Painted with acrylics. Tree is carved. Everything is 'made'. Dirt is kitty litter crushed up. Leaves and grass are made from brown paper grocery sacks. A guy named Marc Berger did the carving. It took him just over a year working on it full time. He...
